Diamond Color

Many people are unaware that diamonds occur naturally in a spectrum of colors. Trace elements that are present during formation millions of years ago are what give the diamonds their color. A completely colorless (D-color) diamond is very rare and therefore more valuable than a diamond with faint color. Most diamonds have a hint of color (most often a hint of yellow) - the colors are ranked from D to Z; D being completely colorless and Z having a great deal of color but not enough to be classified as Fancy Colored. Fancy Color Diamonds come in various hues including: yellow green, champagne, blue, pink, cognac, etc. Currently the most rare and valuable is red/purple.
